Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall are in a war of words over a scrapped Sex and the City film

A scrapped Sex and the City film that nobody really asked for, we should add.

WELL GALS, WE’RE sad to report that Carrie and Samantha don’t seem to be too friendly with each other any more.

It’s pretty widely agreed that Sex and the City 2 wasn’t much cop, but rumours that a third film was in the works have been swirling forever.

Last week, Sarah Jessica Parker said that a film was in development, but the plans have been shelved:

It’s over… We’re not doing it. I’m disappointed. We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story. It’s not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for the audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie.

Who… who has been so vocal? Identify yourselves.

Kristin Davis (who played Charlotte) also said it was ‘frustrating’ to not get to make the ‘final chapter’, which had been written by the show’s creator Michael Patrick King.

The Daily Mail reported that it was scrapped after Kim Cattrall demanded that Warner Bros produce other films she had in development in exchange for working on the movie.

A source told the website: “Ridiculous. Who does she think she is – George Clooney?” But Kim wasn’t having it:

She elaborated further in an interview with ITV, saying she was always against the making of a third SATC film.

…It’s quite extraordinary to get any kind of negative press about something that I’ve been saying for almost a year of ‘no’, that I’m demanding or a diva. And this is where I take to task the people from Sex and the City and specifically Sarah Jessica Parker in that I think she could have been nicer.

The actress said she was asked several times to play Samantha Jones again, but always delivered a “respectful, firm no’.

This isn’t about more money, this is not about more scenes, it’s not about any of those things. This is about a clear decision, an empowered decision in my life to end one chapter and start another. I’m 61. It’s now.

Fair play. Fans of SATC have joined Kim in telling the producers to just let the show lie:
